Nexenta

Nexenta evolved out of the Open-ISCSI storage stack, devoloped in 2004 by Alex Aizman and Dmitry Yusupov (http://www.open-iscsi.org). In 2005, they saw the opportunity to pioneer by combining components of Linux with the Open Indiana (Solaris) and OpenZFS code-bases and founded Nexenta. The Nexenta's products were among the first open source storage products to be brought to market in mid-2008.

The core storage platform, NexentaStor™ is a software-only storage operating system based on Linux and a storage-optimized file system (ZFS) paired with an intuitive and easy to use web based user interface. With this unique combination of open source solutions, NexentaStor delivers the open aspects of Linux in tandem with the power and scalability of the revolutionary ZFS file system. Nexenta products built on top of the NexentaStor platform provide unparalleled capabilities in managing multivendor environments, extreme efficiencies in storage administration and management, and core storage capabilities for content management, compliance, and more.
